War as Duty/Spreading Democracy

When the United States of America invaded Iraq in 2003 it did so to respond to the terrorist attacks of September 9, 2001, and because Iraq was creating weapons of mass destruction that could be hurled against the U.S.and its allies to further the terrorist attacks of September 9, 2001. But when news reports confirmed that most of the September 9, 2001 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, the U.S.’s oil partner since the early 20’th century, and that Iraq was not producing weapons of mass destruction that could be used against the U.S. and its allies, we began hearing that the war against Iraq was being fought to spread democracy throughout the middle east.
