Media and The American Constitution

In recent months I’ve noticed virulent criticism of media expressed by Republican candidates for president of the United States and echoed by online comments; so everyone knows that few like the media, or Donald Trump; so say online media. Recently
media have referred to Mr. Trump’s willingness to stop accepting new citizens to the U.S.A. unconstitutional which to me means that words in the U.S. constitution prohibit U.S. politicians from imposing limits on anyone not born in the U.S.A. from entering that country. The text of the U.S. constitution is online so that all journalists could consult it to see whether they can say that limiting access to the U.S. A. is unconstitutional or not. Here is all that the U.S. constitution has to say about people entering the United States in Article I

…Section 9. The migration or importation of such persons as any of the states now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a tax or duty may be imposed on such importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each person…

In the meantime I’m going to look for amendments. The last time I checked an amendment used by media to attack Mr. Trump wanting to remove illegal immigrants, it turned out to be a post civil war reconstruction law ensuring that no state could treat Blacks as non- citizens of the U.S.A. .

Here’s something I picked up online today, December 10, 2015.

…Wednesday provided the latest Trump news that shocked (shocked!) many: Nearly two-thirds of likely GOP primary voters said in a Bloomberg poll that they supported his proposal to block all Muslims from entering the U.S. — a proposal that many legal scholars say would be unconstitutional and that many of Trump’s GOP opponents blast as “un-American.”…

I sure would like those “legal scholars” and the writer of the above paragraph to quote the section of the U.S. constitution she is referring to.

Here’s that article.”http://www.npr.org/2015/12/10/459207587/surprised-about-donald-trumps-popularity-you-shouldnt-be”

Just now the report that both the mayor and the deputy mayor of Toronto were heading to the big climate change conference over seas motivated me to see what the web had to say about the trip. It was just yesterday that the mayor himself spoke of the need to raise taxes above the rate of inflation contrary to his stated intent while campaigning to be mayor last year. But when I was trying to think of terms to get the most of my Google search I started typing”mayor and deputy to….” and like putting words into my mouth this is what jumped into the search box to complete my search terms :
